Airsoft Guns Are The Preferred Weapon By Milsim Weekend Warriors

By Anthony Carter

What are airsoft guns and what do you do with them? Well picture yourself out in the woods with a bunch of your friends. You are all carrying authentic looking weapons and you are dressed in military uniforms. You are partaking in an increasingly more popular pastime. Military Simulation or MilSim as it is commonly known is a great way to enjoy the fresh air and get some exercise.

You do not need to sign up for active military duty or even join the National Guard in order to play these MilSim games. In fact you don't even have to have ever served in the military to play, although many players have been military at one time or another. Military simulation involves playing children's games in a way that is definitely not child's play. All you need is a desire to eliminate stress and own an airsoft firearm.

Airsoft MilSim is not the only way you can play military simulation games. You can decide to play online or you can join a group of paintball warriors, but if you want the most realistic form of military simulation than you should invest in an airsoft gun and join the local club.

Airsoft guns are exact replicas of real firearms, in most cases military weapons such as m16's. These guns which got their start in Asia have become popular in the U. S. And involve some sort of forced air firing mechanism. These guns can be gas powered, battery powered or hand pump weapons.

Airsoft guns differ from paint ball guns in that they do not fire paint pellets but rather small rubber pellets. Airsoft guns also resemble the real thing while paintball guns typically need some alterations to look like the real thing.

An authentic look and feel allows players to feel like they are really at war. Many organizations require particular uniforms and use military radios and even eat military rations while out in the battlefield. These groups consist of different ranks and these ranks are typically marked on the players arm much as they would be in the military.

These military style exercises may last all weekend and may involve large groups of soldiers. It is common for players to remain out in the playing field the entire time, only leaving if there is an emergency such as a serious injury.

Airsoft guns are becoming increasingly more popular and can be found at many retail locations such as flea markets, swap meets and even mall kiosks. Many sporting goods stores now offer lines of airsoft guns and there is even a wide selection of retailers available on line.

If you are looking for a new hobby that will help you relieve some stress and provide you with some great exercise outside, you may want to inquire with friends and coworkers about teams in your areas. You may also want to check out the closest retailer of airsoft guns in your area. Who knows you may even find out that your boss plays MilSim; wouldn't it be great to be able to shoot at the boss on the weekend? - 31373

Airsoft Guns Are Adult Size Toys That Look Real.

By Anthony Carter

Originally developed in China these fire-arm replicas look and feel like the real thing. The idea stemmed from China, where firearms had been eliminated in the civilian sector. This elimination caused many people who desired to collect firearms to seek a way to have replicas that closely resembled the original items. Airsoft guns were the answer to this desire for firearm replicas. These guns that use small round pellets have developed to the point they are standardized and produced in a limited number of calipers.

Airsoft guns can be powered by battery, pump action or gas. After getting their start in China these reproduction firearms got popular in Japan and other parts of the orient and Europe and then eventually found their way to the United States. Although they were originaly intended to satisfy collectors they have since become an important part of a worldwide craze.

Airsoft guns are manufactured mostly in the orient as they were when they were first developed. Manufacturing companies for airsoft guns have sprouted up in China, Japan, Taiwan and other locations as a result of their ever growing popularity.

While these guns started out as toys, they have been adapted for use by police departments and militaries. Airsoft guns make it possible for training to occur without having to use real weapons. These training airsoft guns are produced as exact replicas on a 1:1 scale. Meaning these weapons look and weigh the same as the original.

Many methods of play have developed using airsoft guns. Perhaps the most popular of these is known as MilSim or military simulation. Military simulation is basically a hard core game set up around military missions with teams that play against each other. These serious players often go as far as to use rations, explosives and radios.

Replicating reality as close as possible the players on each team carry M16's and other military style weapons and fight out elaborate military exercises, that in many cases are reproductions of historic battles. Players of these battles typically stay involved up to the end of the game, many times for several days.

While MilSim tends to be the most popular sport it is by far not the only sport. Unlike paint-ball, another popular war simulation game, Airsoft requires a player to uphold an honor system. In paint ball the paint pellets that are fired by the guns leave obvious paint markings on the players when they are hit. With airsoft guns, there is not this obvious marking and so the player must be honest about when they have been hit and where.

Due to the exactness of these guns some areas have restricted their use, such as large inner cities. In the United States these guns are required to contain orange markings that are permanent. So they can be quickly distinguished from authentic fire-arms.

These mock-up semi-automatics can be found at many retail outlets and can be commonly found at flea markets and swap meets. Another popular way to locate these weapons is at kiosks in malls and even at some sporting goods retailers. Airsoft guns can also be found via the internet at a variety of retailers that over large selections of guns and other associated items. - 31373

What Is An Airsoft Gun?

By Anthony Carter

If you're reading this then you have thought it yourself, just what is it? Airsoft guns are becoming increasingly popular in North America but many still don't know exactly what they are.

In simple terms, an airsoft gun is an exact copy of the real thing. The exception is that they fire plastic pellets, not bullets and use compressed gas. CO2 cartridges are the most commonly used form of compressed gas, but some gun models operate using electrical motors or springs. 6mm plastic pellets travel through this toy with a muzzle velocity of somewhere between 30 to 250 meters per second.

You shouldn't let the talk of plastic pellets fool you though, copper and other metal pellets have been known to be used in these guns and these will cause damage to the skin. If the proper supplies are used however, airsoft guns can be a pretty safe method of entertainment. The recommended age for use is 16 and up so children younger then this should never use them especially not unsupervised. Some states even require you to be at least 18 before being able to enter a tournament.

The history of airsoft guns is a unique one, dating back to the 70's in Japan where owning firearms was illegal. People still had an interest in weaponry so they found a loop hole around this law and began to manufacture fakes that looked like the real thing but fired plastic and rubber balls. The 6mm and 8mm size ammunition later became standard. These older models were all spring powered but later became gas powered.

In the 1990's this fun toy wandered over to North America and changed how we viewed recreational fun forever. Once North American's added their knowledge to the mix we ended up with what we know these gun replicas as today.

As with any great product, cheap knock offs eventually began to pop up forcing the United States to place restrictions on the sale and import. Today all airsoft guns must have a regulation orange tip in order to be allowed in to the country for sale.

Some airsoft gun models are so life like in fact that there have been a few Japan based companies that have encountered problems with intellectual property laws several times through the years. The United States battles this by restricting certain models from being imported in to the country for sale.

I bet you are thinking about how much fun this all sounds right now, aren't you? Well, it is! Whole families sometimes get involved in this activity and use it as a way to spend family time together. Some people say its a wonderful way to relieve stress as well! If you need a little excitement in your life but don't want anything too dangerous then just maybe you should look in to this one. Fanatics doubt you will be disappointed and you just might become a fanatic yourself. - 31373

Zen, the Martial Arts, and Enlightenment!

By Al Case

The martial arts have long been held up as a way to enlightenment. Indeed, this is the goal at the end of the road of The True Martial Art. This article is about why this is so, and to enable the reader to walk to the end of that road all the sooner.

Enlightenment is when light is emitted from an individual. With that light the enlightened being sees the world with different perception. His perceptions are heightened, and he has a viewpoint that rises above the norm.

If enlightenment happened because of motion, then all motion would result in enlightenment. Gymnastics, ballet, swimming, all would result in an enlightened individual, but they don't, so one must ask oneself, What is different about the Martial Arts that they result in enlightenment?

What is different is that there is combat, and when one understands the essence of combat, one becomes enlightened. What is the essence of combat? One could sum up the subject by saying that when one finally understands he is opposing himself, he becomes enlightened, and a study of the martial arts does eventually result in this.

The universe, you see, is a space filled with moving objects. Every object in the universe has a direction that it is going in. It is only in the martial arts that one actually engages in the study of the directions of objects as the one who creates the direction.

A fist flies through space at you, and you go through a range of emotions. Eventually, you give up emotions so that you can better analyze the flight of the fist. Thus, you rise above base reaction and become cause over the motion of the universe.

A person threatens you, he holds a knife and approaches you, and you must divine the direction of the knife before it enters you. You must look at the world the way it exists, and not through some fantasy of how it is supposed to exit, and thus you look at the world you created. Thus, you rise above being the flotsam and jetsam of a universe awash with the shards of random motion, and thus you take control of the motions of the universe.

There would be no motion in this universe, you see, were it not for you. That star shines for you, because of you, if it wasn't for you, there would be no purpose for that star to emit even the faintest of light. And through the tempering of form, the steeling of will, the martial artist engages in fighting, to give up fighting and become what he truly is, an enlightened being free to roam the universe as he wishes. - 31373

Airsoft Guns Are Popular For The Real Like Appearance

By Anthony Carter

At the initial stage of using an airsoft gun, you should concentrate on learning the various rules and tactics to use the devise perfectly. You come to recognize several functions of the sport so that you are able to participate in competitive sports. Starting with an ordinary gun like the airsoft rifle or a pistol would suffice your need.

Competitions require the advanced type of guns which are very expensive and a fresher will never be able to handle those sophisticated replica guns if he is not well conversant with the technicalities of the equipment. Hence, the fresh candidate should give proper time to learn the peculiarities of the game and practice with an ordinary replica gun so that he becomes well versed with the use of the devise and enjoys the game. You can obtain an ordinary gun from the next departmental store nearby your house at a cheap price.

The spring-powered models are for single shot operation which requires manual power to use the spring to launch a pellet. You need to cock a spring gun before every shot that you have seen in the original rifle that works with bolts and the slide for pistols. They are low-powered guns and are cheaper in price and suited for the beginner to start learning the sport.

The manual type is the spring powered model which needs the manual action to pull back the cock with the firing of the shot like the ordinary rifles seen elsewhere. The pistol model also needs manual pulling of the slide to get ready for the fire. This sort of gun is perfect for the newcomer in this line to get used to this sport. They are known as low-powered guns and come very affordable. The beginner finds it extremely suitable to start with the game of airsoft guns. You just have to drop in a store in your vicinity to collect a devise like this and begin your training.

Automatic electric guns or AEGs are run by rechargeable batteries to power electric motors for working on piston or spring to launch pellets. This automatic nature of work has made this gun very popular among users. Japan has developed this gun in an efficient manner and the leading company is Tokyo Marui is the pioneer manufacturer of this variety holding a major portion of the market. Additional modification on the gun with metal body and reinforced plastic has turned it into real looking guns to gain further popularity.

The latest type is the hybrid airsoft guns. This is a development over the AEG and is fitted with shell casings with red caps. With the firing of every pellet, the shell casing ejects and the cap provides real sound and smoke making it further realistic. There has been another inclusion in the family which is known as low powered electric gun.

The automatic ones are produced by the leading Japanese company, Tokyo Murai, who control most of the market of the automatic guns with their sophisticated replica weapons. They are created to appear like the real-life weapon with their plastic cover and metal body and young people enjoy the possession of these replica guns profoundly.

Hybrid guns are new improvements on previous models as the classic ones are replicas of older rifles. Hybrid guns use the latest shell casings and red cap to throw sound and smoke with every shot to create a real atmosphere. The birth of airsoft gun is mainly for recreational purpose and it makes young generation happy by creating a real-life appearance. - 31373

Airsoft Guns Are Replacing Paintball Guns In Recreational War Games

By Anthony Carter

Many paintball fans are switching over to airsoft guns. People that play in these recreation war games are looking for the most realistic experience that they can have. They often will wear authentic uniforms or uniforms that are actually issued to them by the Armed Forces. Having paintballs stain the uniforms is unacceptable. Airsoft guns offer a more realistic feel to the game.

These guns are so realistic looking that in many countries they require you to paint the barrel of the gun with orange paint. And even with an orange painted barrel, you will need to have the gun in a case if you are transporting it in public or have it on display for whatever reason. You should be aware of the laws that pertain to your gun.

Some countries will require you to paint the barrel of the gun orange. Painting the barrel orange will let anyone know that the gun is not real. Even if the barrel is painted orange, you still should not display your airsoft guns in public, without a case. And you should always lock your guns up when storing them at home if you have children or children visit your home.

Although this is not a realistic gun, you will want to treat the gun like it is the real thing. You never point the gun at someone not in play. Never fire your gun closer then the recommended distance to another person. You will clean this gun the same way that would clean a real gun. Remember to only use silicone based products for cleaning and never petroleum based cleaning products.

One thing that you will need when playing in recreational war guns is a barrel bag. This bag is put over your barrel when the gun is not being used on the playing field. The bag will stop any rounds from hitting anyone should the gun accidently go off. There are also barrel condoms; however, they are not as safe or as effective as the barrel bag.

For those that have never played, you need to know that the games are played on an honor system. Because there are not any telltale signs of being hit, players have to shout out when they feel the projectile hit them. Cheating is a serious offense because most of the players know that cheating can ruin an entire game. If there is a dispute, there are referees in regulated game play that can offer an unbiased opinion.

There are four different types of guns for you to choose from. Spring, electric, gas and hybrid airsoft guns are the available varieties. If you are starting out in this sport, you might want to purchase a spring loaded gun first. They are often the cheapest and the easiest to operate. You will not have to worry about gas or battery power running out.

The more experienced you become the more firepower you are probably going to want. There are guns available that will fire bullet-like projectiles and will eject the casings from the gun for the most realistic effect. Although, the airsoft guns are not really guns, they need to be handled as if they were. - 31373

Airsoft Guns Give Realism To Pretend Battles

By Anthony Carter

Want to be a warrior for a weekend? Then consider trying the popular sport of games using airsoft guns.

Airsoft guns became immensely popular when they arrived in North America from Japan in the mid-1990s. It was illegal then in Japan to own a firearm, and this ban may have fueled Japanese interest in them. The ever-inventive Japanese manufacturers paid attention to this customer curiosity and developed the first airsoft guns, powered by springs.

Airsoft games range from short skirmishes involving a few participants through organized scenarios between teams to major military simulations and historical reenactments with dozens of players. Airsoft guns often are used in military and law enforcement training.

While the prospect of such realistic replicas may alarm some parents, airsoft gun enthusiasts insist that their games are not intended for children. Most airsoft guns are age-restricted to players over 16, and commercially organized airsoft games usually require players to be at least age 18.

Longtime hobbyists recommend that beginners try spring-powered airsoft guns first, until they get a feel for the gear. Spring-powered guns tend to be made more cheaply, often in China, and therefore are more likely to break in the most vigorous battle simulations. Compressed-gas airsoft guns are sturdier, but the top gun for serious airsoft enthusiasts is an airsoft electric gun, or AEG.

Rechargeable batteries in AEGs run an electric motor located in the gun handle. This small motor drives a spring-piston unit that propels the plastic pellets. AEGs are much faster to fire than spring-loaded or compressed-guns. This faster performance has led to the development of a range of AEGs that closely simulate automatic or semi-automatic guns. Because airsoft guns can look so much like real guns, they're required by U. S. Law to have a bright orange plastic tip on the muzzle to distinguish them as replicas.

While most airsoft gun bullets are rubber or plastic, some are metal. The non-metal pellets usually are too light to injure a player, but metal projectiles have been known to break a player's skin if fired at close enough range. Usually, however, airsoft guns' projectiles travel too slowly to do any damage to a player. Muzzle velocities for spring-power or compressed-gas airsoft guns vary from 30 to 260 meters per second (100 to 850 feet per second). Electric-powered airsoft guns fire pellets at 150 and 500 feet per second (60 to 150 meters per second), sometimes firing as many as 3, 000 rounds a minute. True bullet speed ranges from 370 to 1, 500 meters per second (or not as fast as Superman!).

Projectiles shot from spring-power or compressed-gas airsoft guns travel at velocities from 100 to 850 feet per second (30 to 260 meters per second). Electric-powered airsoft guns fire pellets at 150 and 500 feet per second (60 to 150 meters per second). Genuine bullets shoot out at speeds from 370 to 1, 500 meters per second.

Airsoft guns powered by electricity contain a rechargeable battery that runs an electric motor. This motor drives a piston-spring device that launches the pellets. Battery power led to the creation of automatic or semi-automatic airsoft guns that are now the most popular. These guns can achieve projectile velocities between 150 and 500 feet per second or 60 to 150 meters per second, and can fire from 100 to 3, 000 rounds per minute. Not bad for a plastic replica gun. - 31373

Why You Need Self Defense Products

By Teresa Bernard

Most people never expect to have a need for self-defense equipment. They may feel if they own a stun gun or canister of pepper spray, they are accepting the fact that some day the unthinkable might happen. Figuring if they don't think about self-defense, they will never need it. This couldn't be further from the truth. The unfortunate reality is, the world is not a safe place. There are "sickos", "weirdoes" and perverts out there with one thing in mind, their pleasure and your agony. Personal security devices are essential tools in today's unsafe world. Here's a few reasons why:

1) Self defense products are necessary as a precaution against an attack.

Possessing self defense equipment is like owning a car insurance policy. No one ever expects to get into an auto collision, but we carry insurance anyway just in case we ever do. This is why it is so important to carry defensive weapons with you or keep them where you can easily get at them if you should ever need them. These tools are great to have around if you should ever need them. It's considerably better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it.

2) Assaults are commonplace in this day and age. Most take place suddenly and unexpectedly, and they can happen to anyone.

Self-defense products are a necessary means of survival these days because it is rare for someone to go through life without at least one confrontation with an assailant. By carrying pepper spray, a stun gun or some other defensive device, you have a means to protect yourself against that degenerate attacker; even one much larger or stronger than you. Defending yourself against a mugger who means you serious harm is not only the right thing to do, it is the morally superior thing to do. After all this person has gone out of his way to inflict harm on you for his gain.

3) The only person you can count on in an attack is YOU.

We live in a dangerous world with too many drugs, gangs, robberies, assaults, rapes, home intrusions, etc. There simply aren't enough law enforcement officials to be on every street corner in every city. You cannot rely on help from bystanders either; most are too concerned for their own safety to come to your rescue. If you are attacked, it is unlikely anyone, even the police, will come to your aid soon enough. Let's face it; it will be up to you to defend yourself by any and all means available. To keep you and yours safe, it is essential you carry some sort of self-defense device that will temporarily disable the thug providing you an avenue of escape.

Bear in mind that you can possess all the self defense products obtainable, but they will be of no consequence if you don't use them. You must be willing to use them without hesitation if you are ever attacked. The best part about these self defense weapons is they are non-lethal. They will not leave any permanent effects. They are only designed to bring your attacker down long enough for you to escape and get to safety. - 31373

The Puzzle of Using Yoga to Master the True Martial Art

By Al Case

There are two paths in the martial arts. The directions are sport, and art. One of these leads to decay, the other leads to enlightenment.

If one studies the martial arts simply as a sport, he engages in the fact of contest, and that actually defines the difference between sport and art. If one studies the martial arts as an artistic form, he is attempting to conquer the part of him which resists and fights. Subdue the self, or subdue another, these are the differences between sport and art.

If one is attempting to subdue another, he is holding the world responsible for his problems, fighting the world, not taking his own responsibility. Wether the accumulation of wealth, or just trying to beat somebody into a bloody pulp, the student is not using the art the way it was designed, as a mirror for the soul. It is the soul, the individual, the spirit, the I AM that is the point of the martial arts, not the smacking down of somebody else.

When one is doing the art as sport, he is engaged in creating the strongest body, and then risking that body to destruction. When one is doing the art as art, he is obsessed with finding out the truth about himself and what life really means. He is engaged in defining what impulse is behind the muscle and quiver of fighting his fellow man.

The True Martial Way can be defined by the degree of motion within the art. A young man studies the excessive motion of Karate and Shaolin and that type of art. As the student ages, he practices tai chi, slowing his motion down, trying to take responsibility for his every action.

Eventually, man becomes old, runs down, and begins to think about what it all means. He aspires to motionlessness, he is a person who watches the movement of the universe, and this is where he finds the truth. In motionlessness, he sees the truth of motion and who creates it.

When one does Yoga one is making the body strong, but not through the game of combat. This does create a weakness, as the universe is motion, and we should duplicate that motion if one is truly going to see through to the source of that motion. That one weakness aside, yoga does open up and explore who one really is.

Putting the body in postures, breathing, watching, we slowly become aware of who is doing the watching, who is creating the posture. We find the I AM that is behind all the motion of the universe, and thus we become spiritual, souls, individuals unique and creative and filled with passion. We could wait, and grow old, or we could pursue violence until we run out of violence, or, we could just accelerate the process with yoga, through posture and slow breathing, and find out who we really are. - 31373

Airsoft Guns - Getting To Know Them More

By Anthony Carter

For a fun and safe option to real guns, you should try out airsoft guns, which shoot pellets as opposed to bullets. First, though, you need to become acquainted with what's actually available here to keep from becoming overwhelmed. Here, you'll find some information that will help you through the basic gun buying points when it comes to guns and pellets.

The two basic types are target guns and hunting guns. Target guns are used to hit things that may be quite small and so they must have the highest accuracy you can find. In the case of hunting guns, accuracy is still important, though slightly less so, as the main goal with them is to be able to hit and kill something. As such, the energy with which pellets are shot out becomes the more important issue.

If you don't want to spend a lot of time re-cocking your gun, you should take a look at the pre-charged options, which make everything go much faster. Whether you go for this advantage or not, however, it's important that you have pellets at the best caliber for your gun. Sometimes this means mixing different ones to get the best shooting experience.

Speed is another element of what makes for the best pellets. If you want fast ones, they need to be small and light. The larger ones are more weighed down and more resistant to the wind. You're going to have to learn about all the different types of pellets that are offered, and which are better for the tasks you'll be doing most of the time with the gun.

As already mentioned, accuracy is key when you're going to be shooting at targets with your airsoft guns. Because of this, you need to know what's going to make sure pellets go right where you send them. The first issue here, on the pellet itself, has to do with the surface of the crown or barrel lip, which shouldn't allow for any wobble whatsoever.

A pellet's spinning is here referred to as uniformity because it must spin with perfect balance. Even being slightly off center can completely ruin your game. Finally, you're going to need to pay attention to the wind before you start shooting, especially if you're using light pellets, as these can get blown away, or at least in another direction with ease.

Again, you need to think about what you're using the gun for. If you want to do both target practice and hunting, you might need two different types of guns. Even if you're just getting one type, you should try out different models or at least get recommendations before you buy. Some types of hunting guns are better for hunting different animals.

It's great to be able to take airsoft guns for test runs, but how do you determine how they're going to shoot, especially if you're using them for hunting? A handy trick is to shoot at a bar of soap and gather judgments first about different guns and then on the best pellets. The right gun and ammunition together will give you the best overall deal. - 31373

Airsoft Guns Mimic Real Guns

By Anthony Carter

Airsoft guns look like real guns, and that's the point. And they are, in fact, real, but they don't shoot actual real size bullets. These replicas of their real counterparts shoot a non-metallic pellet that comes in a 6mm caliber. They put them out at velocities that can vary from 30 to 260 m/s with the aid of either compressed gas or a piston that's spring-driven. They come in an 8mm version as well.

These guns have become a well-loved hobby for many, while a lot of people still don't know about them. Airsoft is a sport, like paintball. They're very similar to BB guns with only a few minor differences. The biggest difference is in their appearance. They look just like the actual weapons that they're mimicking. This gives the game a realism effect that's contagious.

You wouldn't think of these different uses right off the bat, but with their realistic mimicking of the real thing, they make excellent movie and play props. And they can be utilized by the military and the police for training exercises. Collectors love the many different makes and styles that are available. You can have a lot of great fun with these guns at home and at game sites.

All the airsoft guns make use of one of three different power sources. Either electric, gas, or a loaded spring. The spring-loaded guns aren't quite as powerful as the gas or electric ones, but they aren't as costly either. They can make good training guns for learning how to play airsoft. If you have an electric one, then it runs off batteries. If you have a gas one, it runs off a CO2 cartridge.

Some people who first look at these guns are actually afraid to play the game. It's due to the great craftsmanship of the manufacturers. They make them look so real it's hard to know that they aren't. This has caused many to question their use, due to the chance that criminals may use them to commit crimes. But a law has been put into place making it illegal for people to dispose of the bright orange tip that marks them as toys and not the real deal.

Supervision is advised if there are minors taking part in any airsoft games. Just like the BB guns we used as young kids, some safety rules should be put in place. Airsoft guns aren't lethal, but just as using a BB gun, they can cause damage should you get hit in the eye, or they may break the skin if too close. So some safety applications are recommended before turning the young ones loose with these guns.

The cost of these guns varies depending on the quality and manufacturers. If you're just starting out and want something cheap, it's not hard to find one for $9. 99. If you want a higher quality gun, then they're available from $50 all the way up to $200. And if you want top of the line guns, you can pay as much as $1, 000 for one. So you can see, you have a wide selection of guns to choose from that you can fit into your budget.

Airsoft guns look like real guns, but are only great works of replication. They provide great entertainment for those who are into the game, and are great training tools for organizations who need them. This sport is fast becoming all the rage, and all you need to do to get in on it, is buy yourself an airsoft gun. - 31373

Lethal vs. Non-Lethal Weapons, You Decide

By Teresa Bernard

The world today is an unsafe place and the rise in violent crime rates will attest to that. Therefore, it is important for individuals to be ever vigilant about their personal safety. One way is with self-defense weapons. Self-defense weapons can be classified as lethal and non-lethal. Let's look at the differences of each type.

Lethal Self Defense Weapons

Rifles, shotguns, handguns and knives are examples of lethal weapons. These particular weapons can inflict severe wounds and their effects can be permanent as well as deadly. Most require instructions in their use and some require a license or permit to carry. Regular practice is also needed to become and stay proficient in their use. Sometimes the line between self-defense and assault can become blurred when these arms are used to defend yourself, as it can be considered "a use of excessive force" especially if your attacker isn't armed. Keep in mind that your lethal weapons can be used against you if your attacker manages to overpower and disarm you. When using firearms, you must know your target and what is beyond the target to avoid injuring innocent bystanders. These deadly weapons are not for the inexperienced. Lethal weapons can be expensive to own and the responsibility of ownership is much greater. If you are willing to use lethal force to protect yourself or your family, then you may have to live with the repercussions for the rest of your life.

Non-Lethal Weapons

A non-lethal weapon is a device purposely designed to be used to bring someone to their knees without causing fatal harm or and permanent injury. Unlike standard arsenal, non-lethal weapons use a method other than deadly force to reach the objective. Examples of non-lethal weapons are defense sprays such as pepper spray and mace, and energy devices such as stun guns and tasers. When properly used, non-lethal weapons will not cause severe injury, death or have any permanent consequences. Yet they are effective in stopping an attacker long enough to give you time to flee. A license or permit is not needed in order to carry any of these kinds of weapons. Any person can use them with very little or no special tutoring. Many have safety precautions, which will render the device inoperative if an assailant takes it away from you. Another benefit of non-lethal weapons is there is lower risk of innocent bystanders being seriously harmed because none of the effects are lasting. They are much more affordable than other types of weaponry.

Make Your Choice

The type of self-defense weapon you decide to carry, whether lethal or non-lethal, is a personal choice. Keep in mind, being armed and prepared to use a self-defense weapon won't halt every crime, however, it can significantly lessen your chances of being assaulted and greatly increase your survival if you are attacked. - 31373

The Secret of Matrix Martial Arts and Real Intelligence

By Al Case

It is easy to ascertain that Matrix Martial Arts raises intelligence. It is a proven fact that when one matrixes his art, be it Kenpo or aikido or that rare form of wudan hsing i, the art becomes better, and the person becomes more intuitive, and his intelligence goes up. What is not so easy to see is why this happens.

Intelligence is measured in schools through various tests. What these tests do, however, is tell you how full your memory is. What these tests do is evaluate how good your memory is.

Thus, current testing is checking the state of memory, and it has nothing to do with the factors of true intelligence. Current testing does nothing more than verify that the memorization methods of modern schools is working. To come to grips with what this really means we must define what true intelligence is.

True intelligence is the speed at which your mind actually functions. There are other factors, but this is the one that tells the true tale. This doesn't tell you how big or good your memory is, but how fast you can get along with the environment.

In the martial arts the student is taught by having him or her memorize strings of random data. Or memorize random strings of data, however you want it. The hope is that if you get a big enough memory then you can pull a trick out of the hat, and hopefully it is the right trick.

When you matrix the martial arts you make the data logical, no more random data, or random strings of data. Thus, you use less memory, and the data is filed properly for easy extraction. Thus, you have no attention on the data, the missing data and the gaps and holes and wrong arrangements of data, and intuition can kick in.

Intuition means that the data being extracted for use is being extracted at near instantaneous speed. Furthermore, and here is a blessing, the data is never wrong. Thus, the true speed of the martial arts, when intuition kicks in, is in effect, and thus the students intelligence is raised.

Now, it doesn't matter what form of kung fu you study, or what style of karate, all that matters is that you take the time to rearrange the data by matrixing it. When you use matrix martial arts as a template, you see, it is nothing more than putting the book on the bookshelf. The trick here is that we are putting all the books on the bookshelf, in the right order, at the same time, and that is certainly measurable as an increase in intelligence. - 31373

Pepper Spray And Why We Need It

By Camry Dalton

I heard on the news not too long ago where a young woman was raped and her face horribly scarred. It made me think about what a dangerous world we live in and how that could happen to me or someone I love. A self defense product might have saved that lady from the vicious brutality she suffered. Now all the women in my family carry pepper spray.

I guess we just never took the time to think how unsafe our lives are. We seem to take for granted that life is so precious and there are people who are willing to harm another human being, no matter the costs. Because we live in such an unsafe world, some sort of self defense device is a necessity of life.

Defensive spray comes in a wide range of sizes. There is some disguised to like lipstick, walking weights, kubatons and fashion rings for women. With so many different ones to choose from, you are sure to find something which will suit your needs.

It is also nice to see that the prices of these sprays are affordable. I had not bought any before because I thought I could not afford them. I have been doing some shopping and have found several places on the Internet. There are also magazines you can get which sell them. Then, you can flip through the pages at your convenience.

Some of them will spray up to 25 feet. That's a long way! You spray it right into the face and eyes. It causes a burning sensation and the eyes shut. That would have to be terribly painful. But, it is not deadly according to what I have been told. It reached beyond my brain's power.

But, this world does not have many people like that any more. People are too selfish, now. They care nothing for others; only themselves. It is only about what they can take. This is the reason that lady was attacked and left for dead. This is the reason her face was badly beaten and cut. This is the reason why we all should take measures to be sure our family members are protected.

My sister took me to a shop which specializes in different types of self defense weapons. Mace pepper spray make sense to me. Now, if you want to have a handgun, I do not blame you. But, for me, I just do not think I could pull the trigger. However, I have no problems with using pepper spray.

This would make a great gift for anyone you care about. It will give them a sense of security and might even save their life. How could anyone not appreciate your thoughtfullness upon receiving such a fantastic gift? Is it not better to have pepper spray and not need it, than to not have it and then need it? - 31373

How to Punch Harder than Mike Tyson!

By Al Case

Bam! Iron Mike Tyson, in his heyday, was knocking them down faster than they could stand up. Fight after fighter ended in the first round or two, and always with the opposing fighter laying face down like a drunk that had been run over by a dumptruck!

No other fighter was doing what Iron Mike, who the media labeled as Kid Dynamite, was doing, and there were a lot of strong fighters out there. So there had to be something that Mike was doing that other fighters did not know about. There simply had to be a secret behind his fantastic, explosive filled, slobber knocking punches!

The secret is a two part secret. The first part of the secret is that he was shorter than the other fighters, therefore he was automatically ducking under the incoming fist, and rising up with his own. This meant that he had to use his legs, so the push of his legs was part of his punch.

Because he was coming up from under, he learned how to push with his legs and use his hips so they assisted the angle of his punch. He just happened to be the proper size that enabled him to arc his punch at exactly the right angle, to pop that chin at exactly the right spot. Every opponent fought him in similar fashion, he defended the same way, and he didn't start losing until opposing fighters analyzed him correctly and actually boxed!

The second part of the secret has to do with his lifestyle. He was winning fights while he was being trained by Cus DAmato, because Cus DAmato was keeping him in hand, caring about him as an individual, working with him as a person. When Cus died, however, everything changed for the man known as The Baddest Man on the Planet.

After Cus died Tyson came under the influence of such people as Don King. His marriage ended in divorce, and he eventually began taking prescribed medicine. The mental edge evaporated, and other fighters were no longer coming in in exactly the right manner to be taken apart by him.

So the secret of Mike Tysons elephant hammering punch had to do with taking advantage of his height to use his legs and come up under his opponent. It also hinged upon the discipline in his lifestyle which was enforced through the friendship of a man who cared about him as a unique individual. And everything changed when fighters figured out what he was doing and he no longer had a trainer who could help him solve the issue.

The lesson here is that when you train in the martial arts, you must assess your body truthfully, and learn how to avoid its weaknesses and exploit its strengths, not an easy thing to do, but rather requiring an honest and truthful approach to oneself. The second thing you must do is live an appropriate lifestyle, staying away from people who say they love you, but who act otherwise, this is seen easily if you look at how they treat people in their past. Anybody who follows these two rules, analyzing their body correctly and living a good lifestyle, has a chance to develop the hardest punch in the world. - 31373

How to Make the Transformation from Shaolin to Wudan

By Al Case

One of the oldest of the planetary martial arts is Shaolin. It was brought from India by a fellow named Bodhidharma, and has been pivotal to martial arts the world over. Interestingly, Shaolin eventually changed into an internal art atop Wudan Mountain.

I know there will be those who disagree with my theory here, but I hold to it, as I have watched students evolve, and the evolution of art from Shaolin to Wudan mirrors what I have seen students go through. Indeed, as students peel layers off the art, so do they peel off the levels of blinders within themselves, and attain the truly miraculous.

The students just starting out in Shaolin learn to expend energy from the tan tan, to spread that energy throughout the body and make the body like a rock. Arms become iron windmills, stances become permanent bolts to the planet. This, however, is all based on concepts of exploding energy, and outward expulsion of energy from the body.

As a student explores the various martial arts he will come across the concept of drawing in energy. The act of guiding a punch, instead of just bashing a block into it, increases awareness of the concept of absorbing energy, instead of just putting it out. This progression of art often begins with Shaolin, begins the transition with a softer art like Wing Chun Kung Fu, and goes whole body with a Wudan art like Tai Chi Chuan.

And, even if the student stays within one art, he will evolve into the soft. The unfortunate fact of aging, of the body no longer being able to expel the tremendous force of some of the hard arts, will draw the student into the softer arts. He will punch so that he doesn't get whiplash, he will use his legs so he doesn't suffer hip injury, and he will become softer in his approach to the art.

As these progressions of art and age occur, students learn to use their minds and their bodies with less and less effort, and and they are surprised tolearn that the abilities they gained in the hard arts grow even greater. Instead of forcing energy through bodies no longer strong enough to handle it, they guide the energy with less effort, and focus it. Thus, awareness becomes a growing factor, and the blinders come off.

Instead of exploding energy brutally through their bodies, the students seep the energy through their bodies. They learn to guide this energy with their awareness, and the smallest of their motions contain ideas of energy. They learn that the crude body energy they used when they were young and robust was...unaware.

Finally, they make the change from muscle to awareness, and the Shaolin adept becomes the Wudan sage. Instead of reacting with violence, the Wudan master observes, and moves with an opponent, drawing in the energy of the attack and transforming it to his needs. Yet, though there is wisdom in the Gung Fu of the Wudan variety, there is no disdain, for the true sage knows the need for his early Shaolin training, he knows the benefit of understanding energy on base levels if he is to transform it to the highest levels. - 31373

Airsoft Guns Are Really Great!

By Anthony Carter

There are many hunters in the country that enjoy going out on a brisk morning and waiting for their prey. They were once trained to hunt by their fathers or grandfathers and it is now time to pass the tradition down to your own teenage children. The Airsoft guns are the perfect first gun because they are not nearly as deadly as a regular gun.

The basics of hunting can be taught with an Airsoft gun so that if they need some extra practice and make some off shots, they will be spreading a rubber bb over the area instead of an actual bullet. They will learn that handling a job requires a lot of concentration and practice in order to shoot one safely.

The Airsoft guns are a little safer than an actual gun because the rubber bb's that are shot do not do the damage that a bullet does. If an Airsoft gun goes off in the direction of a person and it catches their arm or leg it will do some damage but probably only a bad bruise or mark. If a bullet is fired at someone on accident the results can be deadly.

When training your teenager to shoot, take the Airsoft gun out to the back yard and set up a paper target for them to shoot at. The paper targets can be purchased at any local store that has a sporting good section. Let them practice shooting at the target until they get proficient enough to shoot at it and hit the center of the target every time.

Once the soon to be hunter has shown that they have a good handle on how to shoot the gun and how to be safe with the Airsoft gun, it is time to take the next step. Take them with you to a remote area and let them practice shooting in the wild. Be sure you are somewhere where there are no joggers or other people that can get in the way of the fire.

When you let them have the experience of shooting the Airsoft guns in the outdoors at actual targets you are preparing them for their first actual hunting experience. You can show them what to look for as far as signs that will show where a deer has been and teach them the sounds that they will need to recognize so they know when their prey is coming near to them.

When you are done with your training you will find that your trainee is ready for an actual hunt. They will know how to handle a live gun and what to look for when they are out there. This can all be accomplished while using an Airsoft gun so that the danger of learning to handle a weapon becomes a lot less dangerous.

If you want to be sure that the young person in your life is safe while learning how to operate a weapon, giving them Airsoft guns is the right answer. Keep them safe and give them the education that they will need. - 31373

Airsoft Guns - Are They Dangerous?

By Anthony Carter

Are Airsoft guns dangerous and what are they? The pumping action or force of air makes an Airsoft gun work, the more air the harder it will throw a BB. The Airsoft gun and a BB gun look similar but the 6mm bullet from an Airsoft gun is made of plastic.

The law will not let certain people such as criminals own a firearm but there isn't a law that states you can't own an Airsoft gun. Now you can feel safe by having a gun that you know is a toy but a criminal doesn't. You can flash your gun and care them away by the sight.

Back in the 1970s, Japan first came out with the Airsoft gun. So many people wanted to own a firearm but it was against the law so a company by the name of Mauri invented the Airsoft gun that was portrayed as real but did not provide a deadly shot when fired. The first Airsoft gun came onto the market as a spring loaded weapon this was turned into a gas powered and a electric gun.

An Airsoft gun is made so safe that they will not even break glass. The shots from an Airsoft gun can break the skin but will not penetrate. The BBs from the Airsoft guns will burn or sting if hit by one but are not life-threatening. As with any firearm or object that shoots make sure you take necessary precautions and wear protective eyewear.

There are several types of Airsoft guns on the market that include a BB gun, Airsoft electric gun, CO2 pistols, spring guns are just a few. You can even get the latest accessories for your Airsoft gun such as a shoulder harness or holster, lasers and safes to protect your guns.

Many people that are looking for a gun that wants the scare and look of a real gun yet cant purchase a real firearm may turn to the quickest solution which is the "black" market instead of doing their research. Every Airsoft gun has an orange tip so if quickly looked at by a law enforcement official they know it's a toy and not a real firearm.

There are two leading Airsoft guns on the shelf which are the electric and gas powered Airsoft guns. The electric powered Airsoft gun works on batteries and gives out a continuous shot which is similar to the automatic machine gun. The gas Airsoft guns runs like the CO2 guns but are different because CO2 comes in disposable cylinders and the Airsoft gun runs on the gas from a refillable container that can be bought separately.

No matter what type of Airsoft gun you find to suit your needs and wallet, there are endless choices out on the market today and I am sure that you will find one to suit your style and needs. - 31373

Protecting Yourself With Stun Guns

By Camry Dalton

It is always difficult when you must face that we are all mortal. One day we will die and the end is what we all fear. My beautiful daughter was raped and horribly scarred approximately five years ago. Stun guns might have saved her from the vicious brutality she suffered. We all have one now.

I guess we just never took the time to think how unsafe our lives are. We seem to take for granted that life is so precious and there are people who are willing to take that life, no matter the costs. People are rude and obnoxious. They take with no feeling for the other person's suffering. This is the world we have today.

These guns come in an outstanding number of sizes. There are some which look like cell phones, small batons, flashlights and simple black boxes. With so many different one from which to choose, you are sure to find something which will catch your eye.

Also, the color ranges are wide. I remember seeing a stun gun several years ago. It was nothing marvelous but, it did get my attention. But, it seemed too big and bulky. But, these that I saw at the pawn shop were very colorful. You can get one to match your purse. I think that is funny, getting one to match an article you already have. I saw one in my favorite color, and that is purple. I may get that one.

Some of them will put seven hundred thousand volts of energy into a body. That number is crazily high to me. There were a few which would send one million volts into your body! Can you imagine? That would have to be terribly painful. But, it is not deadly according to what I have been told. It reached beyond my brain's power.

It is always good to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. After I had seen the trouble my friend suffered, I felt I had to also take measures to protect myself. It is unfair to feel that much fear any time you go out. Her fear has made me realize just how vulnerable we all can be.

I think this is the perfect idea for anyone. I believe it is imperative to protect yourself from all the violence which is out there. The world is getting worse and worse so why wait until the inevitable happens. It makes more sense to me just to get it now and I will have it with me when it is needed. I believe I will get one for my friend. She needs some protection too. I believe I like this great item!

This would make a fantastic gift for anyone you care for. You think not! Why? It gives a sense of security and may save their lives. How could anyone not think this would make a spectacular gift? Is it not better to have a stun gun and not need it, than to not have one, and then need it? - 31373

Tips On Buying Airsoft Guns

By Anthony Carter

Airsoft guns serve a number of purposes, but mainly their consider the sporting thing. If you want to do any serious hunting, airsoft guns are generally not very well suited to this sort of thing although you can get specialist models which can do the job quite impressively well.

There are a huge line of products available and you can spend a great deal of cash on a decent quality product, but the amount of money you spend and the sort of gun that you get largely depends on what you are going to be using it for. For example, to put it as simply as possible, if you are trying to hit man made targets, then you will probably want to different gunned than you would use for hunting.

You are going to want a fairly different gun for hunting as opposed to something that you would have for simple target shooting. You will also need to take the sort of ammunition that you are going to use into account and various other factors since both scenarios are quite different.

However, if you are planning on hunting, you are going to want something much more powerful. For example, you could get something which is three to five times more powerful but it will probably have less accuracy. You will have to expect to sacrifice some degree of accuracy to get more power but this is what you will need to do if you want to get something for hunting.

Another thing which is important for hunting is speed. Obviously, your target can get away very easily so you will need to take this into account when buying a gun. Ideally, you need something which you don't have to spend a great deal of time re-cocking since time is definitely of the essence in these cases.

If using the gun for hunting, you also need to take into account the size of the pellets. The bigger the pellet, the more damaging they are typically. Also, the shape of the palate is important. However, with regards to size, remember that smaller ones move faster while larger ones will move slower.

Different products suit different situations, so choosing them carefully will help to ensure that you don't get disappointed. You will also need to take time to choose the pellets properly. Different pellets are also designed for different situations. You can get ones with different rims or you can get spiked ones and they also come in different sizes.

Also consider what sort of target you are going to be shooting. If you are simply shooting man made targets, then choosing the gun for that sort of job is generally much more simple. However, if you are planning to go hunting with it, you are going to need to take a lot of other factors into consideration, even what sort of animal you are going to be hunting.

If you are hitting moving targets things do get a lot more complicated. However, this is the whole challenge involved in hunting and is why many people enjoy it. Nonetheless, you are going to need to come prepared with the right equipment. - 31373

You targets can easily move away and they can move thus two so once you locker target, you want to be able to shoot.

Power is also important for hunting guns. Airsoft guns which are designed for hunting tend to be considerably more powerful. However, you will have to expect to sacrifice some accuracy but this should not be a big problem. With speed to compensate and power, you should find a decent hunting down will do the job pretty well.

Airsoft Guns - Get One Today!

By Anthony Carter

Airsoft guns are typically 3mm or 4mm guns that shoot small rubber bb's. The bb's are forced out of the gun with high powered forced air. These guns are becoming a very popular part of many reenactments and hunting games that take place in wooded areas.

There are many states across the United States that have regular reenactments of important battles that have once taken place in our history. The men and women that participate in these mock battles are using the airsoft guns to portray the battles.

The Airsoft guns are very convincing looking. They are easily substituted during the reenactment of a battle and they defiantly help to make the experience a great one for those that come from miles around to witness it. They will surely be moved by the show.

The Airsoft guns are also used by some people to play hunting games. A group of friends and family get together and try to find each other in the woods. It is a game of skill and expertise as they have to sneak into the area of one of their friends and claim a victim.

Everyone who participates usually dresses in a camouflage outfit or some other pieces of clothing that will allow them to blend in with the wooded area. Once everyone has agreed on the boundaries that they will be playing between, the game begins.

They will spread out in different directions and wait until a specific time has passed. Once the time has passed they begin their hunt. At this point the people that went into the woods as friends become the targets.

As a person finds one of their opponents, they shoot them with the Airsoft gun. This person is then out of the game. The last one that is left that has not been hit is deemed to be the winner.

Just because the Airsoft gun uses rubber bb's does not make it extremely safe. It is still a gun. If a person is hit with the bb's they will surely have a bruise to remind them that they were tagged. If a person was to get hit at close range, the bb may be powerful enough to break the skin.

The Airsoft guns are a lot more powerful than other toy guns. They should be kept away from children and should only be used by older children with strict supervision. The Airsoft guns can still cause damage and should not be dealt with lightly.

If the rubber bb from the Airsoft gun hits someone in the face and eye area, the chances of long term damage are increased. The bb's, while not able to break the skin, can surely become lodged into someone's eyes if caution is not used when operating them.

The Airsoft guns are a lot less deadly than a gun that operates with bullets. The reenactment of famous battles in our history would not be the same without them. The growing popularity of the Airsoft guns for gaming goes to show how great they truly are. - 31373

Airsoft Guns Are Extremely Versatile

By Anthony Carter

Airsoft guns can be used for activities such as hunting, or simply for fun. There are a plethora of different products available that fall under the lines of these guns and often times knowing the right gun to choose can be a daunting task.

In fact, the first step to selecting an airsoft gun is to determine the main purpose for it. If you are interested in practicing your aim, by shooting at targets or things of that nature then a target gun will serve you well.

If you want to utilize your gun for different episodes where you will not have the time to consistently re-cock the gun, it would behoove you to look into some of the pre-charged options that are available for these particular guns. The pre-charged airsoft guns allow you to shoot at a faster rate without taking any breaks in between to cock your gun and wait for another pellet to enter into the chamber.

On the subject of pellets, you also need to be able to pick out the right pellets to utilize for the job that you are wishing to perform with your gun as well. If you are interested in obtaining a pellet that will move quickly through the air without ailments, then you should definitely take heed of the pellets size.

Pellets that are seen to be larger in stature are slower moving. They can't stay on course and they carry a larger amount of wind resistance when they catapult through the air. You can determine what pellets will be great for your airsoft gun simply by analyzing the pellets and determining what they are primarily utilized for.

If you're interested in obtaining a target air gun, then the first thing that you should be interested in is the accuracy of the gun. You should first examine the pellets of the gun, paying strict attention to the crown and barrel lip of your gun. The crown and barrel lip of the gun is going to assure that your shot is on target at all times. No one wants to shoot a gun perfectly on a target and then the pellet seamlessly wobbles the other way.

Balance is a big factor when it comes to hitting your targets in the precise spot that you want. High winds can actually throw your pellets off course and cause your shot to be anything less then perfect.
